A heavy battle which broke out between Nigerian troops andBoko Haram terrorists yesterday, October 6 in Adamawa has reportedly left 400 terrorists and 70 soldiers dead.
The fighting ensued in the towns of Bazza, Michika andMadagali in the state and was launched from Vimtim in a bid to retake the communities which had been overrun by Boko Haram.
A military source confirmed to Vanguard that about 400 of the terrorists had been killed in the battle which was coordinated by Major General Mohammed Zaruwa, the General Officer Commanding of the 3rd division.
The source said:
“I can assure you that we are advancing successfully. We have dealt a heavy blow on the terrorists. They didn’t expect what they are seeing. Our armoured tanks are blasting and they are running for their lives. The airforce is providing air cover and hitting them also.”
“I cannot give you a categorical answer regarding casualties but so far about 400 of the terrorists have been killed.”
70 soldiers were also said to have lost their lives in the battle, according to Sahara Reporters.
A soldier who escaped from the battle reportedly told SR that the Nigerian troops had lost at least eight brand new Armored Personnel Carriers in the battle and that “the heavily armed Boko Haram militants used three helicopters to reinforce their ground attacks against Nigerian troops.”
